We love the comments on our blog. They’ve been great sources of encouragement and feedback and in one case, we were let in on an amazing tip to aid in table etiquette.
A fellow pearly personality shared a great way to ensure that you’re always using the correct bread plate when seated at a table. I’m sure we’ve all been in a situation when there are more pieces of china, flatware, and crystal surrounding us than we can count. This tip is sure to help you keep your bun to yourself.
Using both hands, curl your pointer and thumb toward each other to form a circle. Naturally allow your other fingers to stand straight, forming a line. As you’ll see, you’ve just made the letter “b” and “d” in a snap.
So, when you’re in jam with too many plates around you to keep straight, or when you’re faced with setting a formal table of your own, discreetly use this trick to guide your hands toward your “b” breadplate, or your “d” drink/or wine glass.
Foolproof!
See, easy peasy polish can be free from pain. Love it.

That is a great tip! The one I often use (out of fear that someone will catch me making letters with my fingers) is BMW (bread, meal, wine) That is especially helpful when I am setting the table.
Now if only I could get some advice on how/when to use charger plates?
Have a great day!
Great tip! The way I always remember is BMW (bread, meal, wine). It is especially useful when setting the table.
Now if only someone could share with me how/when to use a charger plate?
Brilliant!
